Thank you David for providing this forum, information, and all your hard work, I really appreciate it as do many others I am sure (well, maybe not everybody). But, the truth sometimes hurts 

In regards to the “Beshear Gambling Strategy Exposed” article. You have GOT to be kidding concerning what Senator Tom Buford said today that Governor Steve Beshear invited him to his office and spoke with him about taking a job in the administration.

What nerve. I am disgusted. It really shows how frantic he is to get gambling legalized, to benefit from it personally financially, along with other unethical individuals. This while the Commonwealth is devastated along with the lives of individuals, citizens, marriages, and communities just to name a few thoughts. Then as opposed to revenue being generated, we will be spending more money helping hurting, broken, and penniless and gambling addicted. Broken families because the divorces, woman and children who will not be provided for because of the money squandered that was needed to afford housing, food, clothing, and care for their children.

Let’s be honest we all know that we are living in a time where there is a mortgage crisis because of the sub-prime lending of the last few years, option ARM loans that are now taking its toll on families from gluttonous lenders who carried out practices that are now forcing people to lose their homes. How can we then support casinos in our state, would we not face similar kinds of adversity from greedy casino owners along with some Kentucky politicians who desire to selfishly benefit without regard for the harm it would do? To me, I cannot see how it cannot be expected…and we are talking about people’s lives. How predatory. Who would regulate it?

I agree with you that we must forbid gambling – forever. We know that we have need for additional revenue and to balance the budget. Again, I am of the same mind - gambling is not the answer and not the only remedy.

In closing, I cannot believe that Beshear invited Senator Tom Buford to accept a position in the cabinet. I am not at all surprised the Senator refused. My hope is our Senator walked instantaneously.

What nerve to try to get Tom, an honorable and upright man to champion the passing of a bill to make gambling legal?

Good for Tom. Thank you Senator Buford if you have opportunity to read this. I do appreciate you as do many and your service and representation to our District, including Jessamine County and Wilmore. Also, obviously we need you in the Senate, particularly to wipe out any effort to allow gambling to be legalized in the Commonwealth.

David, is this issue of legalized gambling going to come to a referendum so that the citizens can speak through a vote?

Sincerely,

Donald Weinstein

Wow! I agree with Free for once (I think the sky is falling...), but probably for different reasons. Senator Buford (who I think is one of Kentucky's better state legislators) has saved us from hearing the words "State Senator Napier!" As a resident of that Senate district, I am giving thanks tonight.

This is good on so many levels.

I'll work in this administration only if Governor BeShear helps me outlaw the eating of horse meat in our Commonwealth. I'm sick of all the horse eating capons in the State Senate !!
