Monkey see, monkey do the opposite

U.S. House Democrats are getting ready to repeal term limits for committee chairmen. Kentucky's legislative bodies should, in turn, enact this power-checking reform just as those in D.C. are throwing it away. Committee chairmen would play much better with others if they knew they would each soon be back in the peanut gallery.

Conversely, imagine how much more of a jerk Barney Frank will be with enhanced job security.

There will be plenty of opportunities this year for doing the right thing by zigging in Frankfort while Washington zags. Take, for example, card check legislation.

Of course, the best we can hope for from Frankfort this year is probably just not to raise taxes.

Elections are the best resource for term limits.

Kentucky and the nation needs to raise taxes in order to pay off the national and state debts as well as to provide service government was created to provide.

Look to a GST on the national level and an additional one cent added to the sales tax.

The additional one per cent sales tax would help prevent the need for casino gambling and would assist in helping local cities, towns and counties from having to raise property taxes in order to pay for roads, police, fire and school.

3:03,
Waiting around for an election to solve the problem of committee chairs with too much power is no solution at all. Incumbent politicians campaign on the power they have accumulated. Spreading that power around best serves the public.

None of those in power who are proposing tax increases are even pretending that the money would go to pay off debts. That's your idea, but not theirs.

We can think increasing government is something temporary. We all know it isnt. Once it takes on another load, we are stuck and they are there forever. I think Ky Gov. prior to Obama has been trying to do the right thing for us in regard to the size and scope of gov.--dont know if this great expansion proposed by Obama will be reflected in all of Gov.or not??
