Rep. Darryl Owens is pre-filing a bill to pour an extra $2 million into the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
No one in Kentucky is going to freeze to death living indoors this winter. We are going to have to get past the point of these feel-good appropriations should times really get hard in America.
Will someone please call Rep. Owens and tell him to quit sending this garbage up and instead look for spending to cut?

KP were is your sympathy for all of those that might freeze to death? It's time for stupid programs like this to STOP. Most of those that use these programs are to DAMN lazy to get a job.
Lord what do you mean I need to work to pay my bills, seems to be the attitude of a large percentage of Kentuckians and legislation like this just encourages more deadbeats and drains on society.
I agree up to a point. I still think this program should exist but only for those over the age of 65 and the qualifications to get benefits in this program should be very high. There are some older people who can't pay heat bills, especially propane bills that are required to be paid 3 months at a time.
I do think that under 65, you've got help yourself.
Liberals buying votes. It never ends. Government is not our saviour.
Then you fund the program 7:04!
Real easy, those that are unable to work should get the help those that are to lazy to work don’t get any. That’s how you fund it. As for some feel good program to help the "needy" not any more.
Have you ever volunteered 9:25 to help those that are needy winterize their homes? I have and believe me 95% didn’t appreciate it and wouldn’t get up to even help. Some even had the gall to ask to help do other things.

That's how you fund it, 9:25! That's it in a nutshell. The people who need it most are the elderly, who simply can't afford heating bills or to winterize their homes. I absolutely don't mind paying for that.
That's a hell of a lot better than paying for a war upon Iraq that benefited nobody, tax breaks for millionaries and an auto bailout!
Tax breaks for millionaires? I got a ax break and I am far from a millionaire. If you work, you most likely did as well.
Stop eating the pabulum!

I work, and my tax break wasn't that big. I was able to cash the check at Speedway.
And how did the government pay for the large refund check you got? Oh wait, it borrowed the money to do that! Great tax policy there!
