Hurricane Grayson: Beshear ducks and covers

Gov. Steve Beshear already embarrassed himself trying to get out in front of Secretary of State Trey Grayson's spending transparency initiative back in June, despite his dithering for six months. And he obviously heard the chants at Fancy Farm for Grayson to run against him in 2011.

So it comes as no surprise to learn Beshear has scheduled the next meeting of the E-Transparency Task Force for September 2nd, when Grayson is away at the Republican National Convention.

It would be a lot easier to take Gov. Beshear seriously about his desire to show the public what state government has been hiding all these years if the meeting he is slipping in while Grayson is unavailable were not the first one since June 19th.

Pitiful display, Gov. Beshear.

Politics as usual. It is all about the politician instead of about the state. Nothing new here, but thanks for exposing it.

I've spent some one-on-one time with Trey Grayson and his wife thanks to Mother Nature raining on a parade here in Hardin County.

He seems to me to be about the good of the state. Will the power of the office ruin him? Only time will tell. But, I don't see him becoming part of the Frankfort "good old boy" culture. That puts him way ahead of Beshear IMO.

Grayson is going to be influencing most anything and everything that Beshear does from now until the next election. That is the kind of checks and balances we need in place.

Grayson is already part and parcel of the good ol' boy system. You watched him a couple of years ago try to use the Democrats' assault on Ernie Fletcher to boost his own stock, instead of standing in solidarity with his party's under-attack governor, didn't you?

Like a whole bunch of other Republicans, Grayson basically took Greg Stumbo's side instead of Ernie Fletcher's.

Grayson is no different. Like other politicians, they love you while you're out doing work on their behalf but then it's "what's your name?" as soon as the election is over. I know more than a few Republicans who are just itching for someone else (meaning not Grayson or Farmer) to surface as a potential and CREDIBLE GOP candidate for governor!

I think Grayson has 'star' written all over him, assuming there are no skeletons in the closet. Every time I hear him speak I am inpressed.
