Lee Cruse looks at taking on Ben Chandler
Growing opposition to Congressman Ben Chandler has fueled quiet speculation in recent months that he might draw a high profile opponent in 2010. One candidate has started raising money and set up a web site and several others are considering the race.

WLEX TV's morning field anchor Lee Cruse says he has been approached about entering the race and is considering it. He had a brief comment about the possibility:
"I am still on the fence because of the personal sacrifice my family would have to make. That’s due to equal time regulations that would require me to leave the job that I love."
Cruse, 39, grew up in Winchester.

Well, this would truly shake things up. It would definitely have Chandler's forces scrambling. I wouldn't be surprised to see his minions start digging into Cruse's past radio shows to find something to take out of context.
The one thing Cruze (and Lockett for that matter) have going for them in 2010... they're not already politicians. This will be an important distinction next year...
I'm generally not crazy about media personalities entering politics, but at this point, I'd encourage just about anybody who could oppose Chandler. He's not representing the people. Geoff Davis, the congressman to our north, said that 98% of his constituents were against Cap & Trade. I imagine Chandler heard a similar message and voted for it anyway. Chandler apparently represents the Democrat Party leadership and the lobbyists who pay to have him elected. Time to fire him and get someone working for us. That's change I can believe in.
It's going to take a "somebody" to beat out Chandler. Lee should run. I love his politics. He has a vested interest in Kentucky and I think he would represent us well.
Shocked is putting it lightly. I will actively campaingn against him now. I am tired of being sold out.
Lee Cruise! The guy who couldn't hack it over at Z103! I hope to God you are joking!
Funniest thing I've heard in a long, long time.
Couldn't hack it?! Seems to me he has actually been quite successful or perhaps you don't own a tv. By the way, why don't you list some of your personal accomplishments? Yeah, thought so.
I've actually talked with him before on this subject. I think his skeptics would be pleasantly surprised at his knowledge base on politics.
I'll get behind Lee. When Chandler voted for that ponzy scheme on Friday, I pledged my efforts and what financial support I could to whoever would go after that seat in congress. Chandler needs to resign his membership as a Blue Dog democrat. There's nothing moderate about what he just did to Kentucky!

I haven't been dismissed from two jobs like he has. I also don't pretend I'm a comedian when I'm not.
I know he's over on LEX18, but I quit watching that station because of Bill Meck. Can't stand that guy. His radio show on Z103 was pretty bad. His show on 630 was also pretty bad, but was much better compared to that Leland Conway guy.
Chandler would beat him 70 to 30.
Fired from two jobs? Wow, that never happened to anyone in the media before. Let's see Rush Limbaugh fired about 15 times but is the most listened to radio host in the history of the medium and signed a contract worth about 1/4 of a billion dollars.
Pretends to be a comedian? How would one go about that? Working comedy clubs regularly and getting laughs and paid for doing it but not cashing the checks?
Methinks someone is feeling a twinge of jealousy. It is rather unbecoming really.
Perhaps if he was living off his granddaddy's name you would be more appreciative of his efforts but there is only so much room for Kentucky royalty I suppose.
I've seen Lee Cruise's comedy act. He's not that funny, but that's my opinion.
I've been watching Congressman Ben Chandler's comedy act since 2004. He's much less funny.
I'm ready for anyone else.
We definitely need to give Chandler the boot, that's for sure!
You know, the Cruze-mon has *more* common sense in his right butt cheek than Chandler could ever muster.
Chandler does not know the working people. Chandler does not hear the working people. Nor does he care to. All he knows is the rich and famous. If Pelosi stopped short, Chandler'd have to have a nose-erectomy to get his schnoz unstuck from her "you know what!" Chandler is a left leaning populist that goes where he's led. He needs to grow a pair, and I think Leland is letting him know that!

Chandler has got to go! Thank you Lee Cruse! Lee are you on twitter or facebook?
I would like to say congratulation..
hope for you is that it is ultimately a rewarding experience.
